PLEASE VISIT US SOON FOR DATES AND INFORMATION ON THE 2008 RENEWABLE ENERGY FAIR

2007 Chena Renewable Energy Fair on August 18th

COME JOIN US FOR A DAY OF FREE WORKSHOPS, ENTERTAINMENT, FOOD, AND TOURS!

2007 THEME:  FROM HOT WATER TO HYDROGEN

To celebrate the grand opening of our geothermal power plant last year, Chena Hot Springs Resort organized the 1st annual Chena Renewable Energy Fair.  This fair included tours of all our renewable energy and sustainable development projects, along with workshops, vendor booths, complimentary chili and hotdogs, and the official dedication of the geothermal power plant. 1400 people attended the inaugural event, along with 30 vendors and 25 presenters.

The tremendous feedback from last year's event has encouraged us to make the Renewable Energy Fair an annual event.  This year, we will be celebrating the opening of the first commercial hydrogen production facility in Alaska, right here at Chena Hot Springs!  Because we produce more electricity from our geothermal power plant than we can use onsite, and because we are not grid-connected to GVEA, we plan to use our excess electricity to make hydrogen to use for fuel.

We plan to once again offer complimentary transportation, food, and tours of our facilities to all participants, and we are working to bring in a wide range of vendors and speakers from Alaska and throughout the country.  This is a great opportunity to spend the day with your family at Chena Hot Springs and learn about renewable energy as well!

Mark your calendars for August 18th, and visit this page later for details on bus schedules, vendor and speaker schedules, and plenty of other information.  Also, if you have any suggestions for topics or are interested in volunteering or sponsoring the event, please e-mail us at gwen@yourownpower.com.
